April 6 France Narbonne/Hotel Du Paris (180Fr)

The coastline goes endlessly...
I was heading to the south from Paris to Avignon and from now on letfs go west. Actuall I wanted to drop at Arles or Marseille but maybe I will pass the area again several months after. When I ran for about 100km, I saw the sea on my left. Thatfs the the Mediterranean Sea! At school, in history and geography class, we would hear of  it and I wanted to see it once. The colour is greenish blue. It is kind of similar to the colour of my Japan Sea.

I ran on a dart road for the first time in this touring. Bearing off course a bit, I went into a narrow path in the gentle mountain. Because certainly it was a private road, I came back afrer a few kilometersf run. Though I felt good, the load are very heavy (more than 40kg), I hardly move my weight, and a careless riding would cause a terrible thing.

Today I stayed in Narbonne. I tried to stay a youth hostel but the only one was full. I couldnft help staying a hotel again. I think it is about time to save money by staying budget accommodations.

The hotel I have stayed is kind of smart and the land lady is beautiful and kind of mysterious. The furnishings seems to refledt her sense.  Though I wanted to contact her more. She disappeared into the back room just afrter my check-in.

April 7
Andorra Andorra la Vella/Hotel@Lleida(110Fr+Parking 45Fr)

About 1,500m high
I left Narbonne for Perpignan, which is 30km south to Narbonne. Getting to Perpignan, then head for the west.
Running for a while, I saw considerably high mountains ahead of me. Is it the famous Pyrenees? Yes, it is. I would hear of it when in schoolchaha. Until then, I had run in an extensive plain all the way, so it was very refreshing for me. And then I am going up to the Pyrenees. Do you know where I am heading for? It is Andorra., which is a small nation between the big France and Spain. At the master plan, I didnft consider the mountain country. But as I go nearby anyway, there is no reason to pass it.  Andorra is also the nation of tax heaven, I could buy a carton of cigarette. And It might be possible to run mountain dirt roadsc.

I was in the spain territory before I knew it. I went through just like a toolbooth or something. It would be that, now I think. It was my first experience to cross a land border, but it was not exciting. Europa is getting as one, isnft it? However, people and the language has been changing. People speak with a strong trill instead of phlegm-catching pronunciations in french.

The receptionist of the hotel I am staying today is really funny. As I wanted to use the hotelfs telephone line for the net, I asked him eMay I use your telephone to check e-mail? f. and he answered, edo you want gfemalehf? I like female, too!

April 8 Andorra Andorra la Vella/Hotel Fest Brava (4000Pts or 160Fr)

On a mountain road
@I moved to another hotel. After check-in, letfs go to mountain roads of Andorra. Andorra is a very small country but itfs altitude is between 1000m to 3000m. roads are very winding and steep. Just like the intestines. And there are a lot of horse shits here and there on the road. I donft want to tread on them, but couldnft help treading because it was so steep and I couldnft control the machine well.

Ride and ski today
Mountains with snow on the top stood in front of me like a huge wall. It overwhelmed me. And as I was running without any loads, I feel very light and enjoyed the short dirt run.Though I wanted to keep on the off-road for some more hours, an unexpected thing made me stop.

When I go up the mountains further and the my GPS indicated 2000m high, I found a skiing ground ahead of me. Looking at people for some time, I was getting to do it. I tried asking the price, and I found it quite cheap (2,600 pts for one day, 1,200pts for a set of equipment). I  enjoyed skiing for about hours. The snow was a little wet and not too many people in spite of the weekend.@I skied with riding suits, groves, some protectors for the bike and helmet. It looked kind of strange but very safe.

APRIL 9@Spain Barcelone/Pension Lima (5,885 Pts)

Fruits market in Barcelona.
Shopping on yesterdayfs night and todayfs morning. I got a digital camera for my friend (she had asked me to buy at the tax heaven), a wool jacket, a water bottle, and some more. They are all cheaper than buying in other European countries and of course in Japan.

After check-out, I dropped at a gasoline station and changed engine oil. And it was about 2:30 that I leave Andorra to Barcelona. I have to get there at 18:00, when I am meeting two friends. I had to run a bit faster but I got there 20 minutes past 18:00. fortunately, they are still waiting for me.

GPS is also useful when we have to get to a meeting point where we have never been there. I would have taken much more time without GPS today, because I couldnft help running everywhere looking for the point and stopping many times to make sure where I was now on the map. But with GPS, I was able to find it immediately without looking at the map.

APR 10 Spain Barcelona/Pension Mari Luz (1,900 Pts)

A girl lights a candle. In the Catedral
Today I moved to a cheaper accommodation. It has some dormitory rooms and I chose it. Actually, at the moment, every youth hostel or cheap hostel was completed and I had no choice.

They donft have any parking space and I canft park my bike in a public parking lot for motos. I was worried about it but I had no choice, too. Everytime I hear a noise outside, I woke up and strained my ears. Not sleep well.

In the afternoon, I walked around the Gothic area. Lots of old buildings and make me feel a long history.
